Get in the Christmas spirit with Ed Ames!
Saturday, December 23, 2017
Dan'l & Becky were stressed, you should have heard them a gabbin'.
A harsh winter storm had stranded all for a week.
With no food and no presents, this Christmas looked bleak.
Dan'l couldn't get out, a blizzard snowed them in.
When he tried to go out, he couldn't see where he'd been.
So the snow piled up and their worries just grew.
As Christmas was coming, and they didn't know what they'd do.
As Israel and Jemima were in their beds fast asleep,
Becky was worried and started to weep.
Oh Dan, what'll we do? Our food is all gone?
And under the tree, no presents, not one!
And at that moment they remembered, what Christmas was about.
It wasn't about having or doing without.
So they said a thankful prayer for all that they had.
Their children, their health...Christmas wouldn't be so bad.
So they headed to bed hoping the kids would understand.
While the blizzard howled all night to beat the band.
Early Christmas morning, there was a pounding at their door.
When they opened it up, a frozen figure fell to the floor.
It was Mingo who looked frozen from ear to ear.
He'd come from the Fort to check in on them here.
He was shivering and shaking and nearly frozen to death.
He started to speak after catching his breath.
Out on the porch is a bag full of stuff.
There's food, presents & supplies, I hope it's enough.
Daniel was grateful and Becky hugged him so.
And when the children awoke, they also let him know.
Well the blizzard finally stopped and the sunlight returned.
Yet the Boones stayed inside and reflected on what they learned.
When things look their worst, have faith and never give in.
Be thankful for living, for your health, for a friend.
Celebrate what Christmas means, remember the season
Be thankful for Him, remember the reason.
So we leave the Boones and everything is alright.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
May your family remember the reason for the season!
Merry Christmas from the Adamses to you & yours this Christmas!!!
